Terms of Service

Acceptance of Terms
By using this website or submitting an enquiry to Tanzania Travel & Safari Company Ltd ("we", "us", "our", or "the Company"), you agree to these booking terms and conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or book with us.
About Our Services
We are a Tanzania-based tour operator offering wildlife safaris, Kilimanjaro climbs, Zanzibar getaways, and custom itineraries across East Africa. The tours, destinations, and content on this website are provided for general information and trip-planning purposes.
Tanzania Travel Company Ltd is registered as a tour operator in Tanzania and recognized by the Ministry of Natural Resources & Tourism and the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), and works in collaboration with the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO), Tanzania Forestry Services (TFS), and Tanzania Wildlife Authority (TAWA). In arranging your trip, we act as agent for you in procuring services — accommodation, park permits, transfers, and similar — from third-party providers, and are not liable for the acts or omissions of those providers.
Enquiries & Bookings
Submitting the trip enquiry form on this website is a request for information and does not, by itself, create a confirmed booking. A booking is only confirmed once we have agreed on an itinerary with you directly and received the required deposit.
A 35% deposit is required upon confirmation of your safari to secure accommodation and transport, with the remaining balance due no later than 45 days before departure. Amending a confirmed booking may incur an amendment fee of up to 10% of the booking cost. Payment may be made online by card or by bank transfer, following the instructions on your invoice. Payment by credit card or traveler's check carries a 10% surcharge.
Cancellations & No-Shows
All cancellations must be submitted to us in writing and take effect from the date we receive and acknowledge them. Bookings that are cancelled, shortened, or reduced in the number of participants are subject to the following cancellation and no-show fees, charged as a percentage of the total tour price based on how much notice you give before departure:
| Notice Before Departure | Cancellation Fee |
|---|---|
| More than 8 weeks | Deposit refunded, less a 5% handling fee |
| 7–8 weeks | 15% |
| Less than 6 weeks | 25% |
| Less than 5 weeks | 50% |
| Less than 4 weeks | 100% |
If you fail to join a tour, join it after departure, or leave before its completion, no refund of the tour fare can be made. If your reason for cancelling falls within the terms of a travel insurance policy you hold, your insurer will normally refund any such charges to you directly, subject to your policy's own terms.
Accommodation Substitution
Should accommodation be unavailable at a quoted hotel, lodge, or tented camp, we will provide alternative accommodation of similar quality.
Service Availability
While we use our best efforts to ensure that all planned accommodation and excursions are available as arranged, we make no claim of any nature — in whole or in part — for a refund if any accommodation or excursion becomes unavailable, or if you are unable to use a service that was otherwise available.
Special Dietary Requirements
Guests with special dietary requirements should let us know well in advance of departure so that we can inform our suppliers.
Luggage
Please keep your luggage light — soft duffel bags are preferable to hard suitcases. Luggage on internal domestic flights is limited to 15kg per person.
Photography & Publicity
We reserve the right to use photography or film taken on safari by our staff or an appointed representative — including images of clients — in our advertising and publicity materials, without further notice, payment, or consent.
Check-In & Check-Out Times
Rooms are generally available for check-in from 12:00 PM on your scheduled arrival date and should be vacated by 10:00 AM on your scheduled departure date. Some flexibility on departure time may be possible depending on anticipated arrivals — just ask your safari leader or our team.
Changes to Schedule
While every effort is made to keep to published schedules, we reserve the right — and are sometimes obliged — to change routes and accommodation on safaris as conditions require. Such changes may be brought about by force majeure, statutory directive, seasonal rainfall affecting bush tracks and airfields, wildlife migration between regions, or reservation problems, among other causes. In any such case, we will make all reasonable efforts to resolve the situation, which may include offering suitable alternatives.
Airline & Charter Services
Flight fares, taxes, and schedules are subject to change by the airlines without prior notice, and we are not liable for such changes or delays. Airlines and other carriers are not liable for any act, omission, or event occurring while passengers are not aboard their aircraft or vehicle; a passenger's ticket, once issued, constitutes a contract solely between the airline or carrier and the passenger. We subcontract flying services to independent charter operators, and train services to independent rail operators, who are responsible for their own operations.
Guide Substitution
Should a guide be unable to lead a safari due to illness or other reasons, we reserve the right to substitute another qualified guide.
Pricing & Availability
Prices shown on this website are indicative starting prices and are subject to change based on travel dates, group size, accommodation choices, and availability. We will always confirm final pricing with you in writing before you book.
We do our utmost to hold prices as quoted or published, but if statutory taxes, exchange rates, or similar costs increase after your quotation is issued, we reserve the right to apply a surcharge without further notice, up to a maximum of 10% of the tour price.
Participant Conduct & Fitness
You acknowledge that a safari can be physically demanding, and it is your responsibility to ensure you are sufficiently fit to undertake the tour you've booked.
We may, at our discretion and without liability or cost to ourselves, cancel or terminate a booking at any time — including in the event of illness, illegal conduct, or behavior incompatible with the rest of the group — in which case the passenger concerned is not entitled to a refund.
Travel Risks & Liability
We act as agent only, arranging services — accommodation, park permits, transfers, mountain climb logistics, and similar — with third-party providers on your behalf, and are not liable for the acts or omissions of those providers. We may also engage subcontractors to provide part or all of the services we arrange; where we do, the relevant subcontractor's own booking and cancellation conditions apply alongside ours.
We carry insurance against legal liability for injuries passengers may sustain while traveling in our own vehicles, governed exclusively by the laws of Tanzania. Beyond that, you are responsible for arranging your own comprehensive travel and medical insurance covering trip cancellation and curtailment, emergency evacuation, medical expenses, personal injury, repatriation, and loss of baggage or personal property for the full duration of your trip.
Safaris can bring you into close proximity with wild animals. Attacks are rare, but no safari into the African wilderness can guarantee one will never occur. Neither the Company, its employees, nor its agents can be held responsible for injury or incident arising from this inherent risk, and by booking with us you confirm that you understand and accept it.
You are responsible for ensuring your passport, visas, and any required medical documentation — including vaccinations against diseases such as yellow fever and malaria — are valid and complete before travel. Neither the Company, its staff, nor its agents can be held liable for a client not holding a required visa or other document, or for denied entry resulting from incomplete travel or health documentation; we recommend consulting a travel clinic or medical practitioner well before departure.
Except where loss or damage arises from our willful misconduct, we are not liable for any claim relating to the provision of our services — including errors or omissions in our brochures or other literature, late or non-confirmation of bookings, or loss or damage caused by delay, sickness, or death, whether or not due to negligence — and we are never liable for indirect or consequential loss. We also reserve the right, at our discretion, to cancel a tour or any part of it, or to alter its route, accommodation, price, or other details, where it is rendered impossible, illegal, or inadvisable by weather, natural hazards, strikes, war, or government action or interference; any extra expense resulting from this is the passenger's responsibility. Any claim must be notified to us in writing within 3 days of the event giving rise to it.
Intellectual Property
All text, itineraries, photography, design, and software on this website belong to Tanzania Travel Company or are used with permission, and may not be copied, scraped, or reused without our written consent.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Where a dispute cannot be resolved through arbitration, any litigation arising from these terms or a booking made under them will be filed exclusively before the courts of Arusha, Tanzania, and by using our services you consent to that jurisdiction.
Changes To These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
